A dictionary of womens clothing and lingerie terms and phrases complete with definitions....Why would someone go to all of this trouble? This project was started after we got really tired of not understanding what something meant when we were shopping on line. Depending on where we were shopping, getting product information ranged from easy to impossible. We knew we were not the only ones that didn't know what "15 denier" meant, the difference between a "teddy" and a "teddiette", or if there was a difference between a "cupless corset" and an "under bust corset", so we decided that a dictionary or glossary of commonly used terms and phrases would be very helpful. We plan to continue adding information to the lingerie dictionary, hopefully on a fairly regular basis. Please send us any terms and phrases we don't have or you don't know and we'll find out what it means and put it in the lingerie dictionary.
As we worked on this project, we also thought that having someplace (anyplace!) to find out how to care for lingerie and other specialty fabrics would be very helpful so we have included a fabric dictionary, complete with recommended washing instructions and sometimes our own helpful hints - usually gained by destroying something in the wash. Please let us know if you have any helpful hints about specialty fabric care and we add that in to what we hope will become a valuable online resource.
